🍃 The Elephant Rope 🍃
As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.
He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. “Well,” trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”
The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were.
Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before?
Failure is part of learning; we should never give up the struggle in life.

ترجمه داستان ” طناب فیل”
مردی از کنار فیلی در حال رد شدن بود. می ایسته و از این حقیقت تعجب میکنه که این موجود عظیم الجثه، توسط طنابی کوچک که به پای جلو ان بسته است، نگه داشته شده.
نه زنجیری و نه قفسی! واقعا واضح و مبرهن بود که این فیل هر لحظه میتونه از این حصار و بندی که براش ایجاد شده رهایی پیدا کنه (خلاص بشه). اما به دیلی این کار و انجام نمیداد.
اون اطراف تعلیم دهنده ای رو میبینه و از اون میپرسه که چرا این حیوونها همینجور وایستادن و هیچ تلاشی برای رهایی انجام نمیدن؟
تعلیم دهنده گفت “خب” ، وقتی اونها خیلی کم سن تر و کوچک تر بودند طنابی به این اندازه برای نگه داشتن اونها استفاده میکنیم که در اون سن کفایت میکنه . همینجور که بزرگ میشن، اونها شرطی میشنبه این باور میرسن که نمیتونن رها بشن . هنوز فکر میکنن که اون طناب میتونه اونها رو نگه داره و هیچ وقت تلاشی برای خلاص انجام نمیدن.
مرد بهت زده بود که این حیونها هر لحظه میتونستن از این حصار رهایی پیدا کنن ولی فقط بخاطر تصورّی که داشتن، همونجا مونده بودن(گیر کرده بودن).
نکته اخلاقی داستان: چند نفر از ما ها در زندگیمون، مثل همین فیلها هستیم و زندگیمون رو داریم میگذرونیم و این باور (تصور) رو داریم که نمیتونیم کاری رو انجام بدیم، .صرفا بخاطر اینکه قبلا شکست خوردیم.
شکست بخشی از یادگیری هست و ما نباید بخاطر دست و پنجه نرم کردن با مشکلات رو در زندگی کنار بذاریم ( تسلیم بشیم).
